Road Upgrades on Rge Rd 121 South of Burdett in August 2025

Update: The work on this project for 2025 is now completed. Some work will continue on this project in 2026. Thank you for your patience.

The County of Forty Mile No. 8 will be undergoing various road upgrades along Rge rd 121 South of Burdett in the month of August 2025. Much of this work will include hauling gravel, in conjunction with fresh oil, in locations from Twp Rd 94 to North of Twp Rd 100. Various patching operations will also take place from Hwy 3 to Twp rd 90. Please slow down and help keep our crews safe in work zones, expect delays, and use alternate routes if possible.

The County of Forty Mile No. 8, Foremost, Alberta increases the Road Weight Allowance to 100% of normal weight on all gravel roads, within the county under County Control.

The spruce beetle (Dendroctonus rufipennis) is a bark beetle species native to North America. Host trees include mostly white spruce, but also Colorado Blue and Norway spruce. Known for its devastating impact on large boreal spruce forests, this beetle has recently gain attention due

to infestation occurring in towns, summer villages, woodlots, shelterbelts, and windbreaks.

South East Alberta Rural Crime Watch Association

Rural crime watch members,

Please mark your calendars for our next meeting on March 12th. Guest speakers will be presenting on Drones and the regulations and use of them in rural areas. Some of you may have seen drones around the area and overhead, and want to learn more. As always, this is a free meeting and is open to the public.

A full agenda will be published on the website closer to the date. Memberships will be available for purchase, along with property signage displaying the Rural Crime Watch program logos.

The meeting will be held in the Sierra Room at the Cypress Centre on March 12th at 7pm.

Being exposed to these conditions, even for short periods, can be dangerous. Protect yourself and loved ones by:

Municipal Agriculture Disasters

Things to know about Municipal Agriculture Disaster Declarations.

A common misperception is that a municipal declaration of an agricultural disaster will influence a provincial declaration or access to funding supports. This is simply not the case. Municipal declarations bring awareness to an issue in a specific area of the province, but they do not trigger a provincial declaration or access to any funding to support the issue.

A municipality does not need to declare an Agriculture Disaster for their farmers to participate in any resulting federal or provincial programs triggered by extreme weather events like drought or excessive moisture.
